The tariff for electricity subscribers is determined every year by the Islamic Council and based on the laws and regulations approved and determined by the legislature, taking io accou the approach of allocating more subsidies to low-consumption subscribers and requiring high-consumption subscribers to reduce consumption and comply with the model.

The calculation basis of the new electricity tariff in Iran and its application on the customers’ bills
According to the announceme of the Ministry of Energy, this year the electricity tariff of the subscribers will be calculated based on the rules included in the law “Removing obstacles to the developme of the electricity industry” approved in 1401. Based on this, the tariffs of the domestic sector have been increased in two tariff sections for low-consumption subscribers and high-consumption subscribers (with higher consumption than the model) separately for differe normal and tropical areas (under the influence of temperature and humidity).
Tariffs whose calculation base is coefficies of electricity supply cost (including production, transit and fuel costs) have increased by 207 Tomans per kilowatt hour compared to 1402. This means that the cost of electricity supply in 1402 was equivale to 5472 Rials, which has reached 7542 Rials this year. According to the published statistics, 75% of the subscribers in differe regions are low-consumption subscribers whose electricity tariff is subsidized and they pay a maximum of 20% of the cost of electricity supply, including the cost of fuel and value-added taxes.
For example, the bill of a subscriber in normal areas with 200 kilowatt hours of electricity consumption (at the model level in the cold season of the year) considering the cost of electricity supply, value added tax and Electricity charges this year for a period of two mohs will be equal to 30 thousand tomans, which has increased by 7 thousand 500 tomans compared to last year. With the aim of creating an opportunity for compliance and preveing a significa increase in the electricity of low-consumption subscribers, the law has given the Ministry of Energy the opportunity to charge very low costs, i.e. less than half of the electricity supply costs from the subscribers within the model. For example, if a subscriber consumes 170 kilowatt hours of electricity in the cold season of the year in normal areas where the model is 200 kilowatts, for consumption from 0 to 100 per kilowatt hour only 14% of the supply cost is 1071 Rials and for consumption from 101 to 170. Also, if a subscriber in the cold season, where the pattern of electricity consumption in normal areas is 200 kilowatts, consumes electricity up to 4 times more than the pattern, i.e. 800 kilowatt hours, he will be subject to an electricity bill of about 2 million tomans, which is an increase of 550,000 compared to last year.
