The world’s first urban wind turbine designed by artificial ielligence has been unveiled in the UK. This turbine, which is called the “Birmingham Blade”, was joily developed by experts from artificial ielligence company EvoPhase and a metal manufacturing company called KwikFab.
According to the Ieresting Engineering report, EvoPhase says it has used artificial ielligence-based design to produce and test this turbine to test its efficiency with the wind speed of the city of Birmingham. This turbine also works at a speed of 3.6 m/s, which is significaly less than 10 m/s in other turbines.
The first urban wind turbine in the world
EvoPhase’s chief technology officer says: “We needed a turbine that could handle Birmingham’s relatively low wind speeds and, of course, the wind turbulence from nearby buildings. “Also, the design of this turbine should be small and light so that it can be placed on the roof.” According to the company, the Birmingham blade will be up to seven times more efficie than existing designs in the region.

One of the advaages of using artificial ielligence in the turbine design process was that experts were able to produce, test and modify more than 2 thousand wind turbine designs in just a few weeks, which significaly accelerated the developme process. This also saved developme costs. Also, according to the creators, this wind turbine will not be just a prototype and can be used in the real world. The final product is expected to be released by the end of 2025.
EvoPhase was founded in 2023, and its approach is artificial ielligence-based design. Of course, its field of activity is not only dedicated to wind energy, but it also uses artificial ielligence to optimize equipme in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical production sectors.
