Samsung CryptoCore’s proprietary encryption module for Samsung TV security has received FIPS 14-3 certification from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
Samsung Electronics has officially announced that its proprietary Samsung CryptoCore cryptographic module has received FIPS 140-3 certification from the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Obtaining this certificate will show Samsung’s firm commitme to provide the highest level of security and data protection for smart TV users worldwide. With this achieveme, Samsung has taken a big step towards improving the security of its products and providing the assurance of TV users to maiain the confideiality of their personal information.
The executive vice preside and head of the research and developme team of Samsung’s display division, Yong Jae Kim, said about this importa achieveme:
Due to the ever-increasing iegration of home eertainme systems, the protection of users’ personal data has emerged as a fundameal priority for technology companies. Samsung Electronics has taken an effective step towards improving the level of security in this field by iegrating the CryptoCore encryption module in its smart TVs, which complies with the valid FIPS 140-3 security standard. This action, in addition to ensuring the optimal protection of users’ personal information, allows them to easily and safely benefit from the various functions of Samsung products.
From 2025, the proprietary Samsung CryptoCore encryption module will be fully iegrated with the Tizen OS for Samsung Smart TVs. This merger aims to improve the security level of the company’s key products, including televisions, monitors and digital displays. By embedding this security module in Tizen, personal data related to Samsung user accous are stored encrypted and safe. Also, the autheication information of the SmartThings platform will be protected against cyber threats and the coe broadcast on the TVs will have iellectual property rights.
A big step for the security of Samsung TVs
Since 2015, Samsung Electronics has been equipping its smart TVs with Samsung Knox security platform, which has succeeded in obtaining a valid CC (Common Criteria) certificate for a decade in a row. Nevertheless, Samsung has taken a step further to improve the security level of its products by obtaining the new FIPS 140-3 certificate. This achieveme, in addition to strengthening defense mechanisms against cyber attacks and data breaches, allows users to benefit from more comprehensive and preveive protection against possible threats. In other words, Samsung has placed the security of users’ personal information as its top priority by relying on advanced encryption technologies.
The valid FIPS 140-3 certificate, which is recognized by the governmes of ten couries, is an accurate measure for measuring the level of security, iegrity and reliability of cryptographic modules. Obtaining this certificate by Samsung CryptoCore encryption module has been an effective step towards improving the security level of Samsung smart TVs. In this way, users of these products can watch coe, connect their smart devices and benefit from various services in the field of Iernet of Things with full confidence of protecting their personal data. In other words, the FIPS 140-3 certificate guaraees a safe and secure environme for Samsung smart TV users.
