While concerns about artificial ielligence and its impact on the future of humanity have reached a peak, Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, believes that this technology can advance humanity in at least 4 areas.
According to Business Insider, Sundar Pichai recely attended the Summit of the Future, which was held with world leaders at the United Nations headquarters in New York, and expressed his views on the future of artificial ielligence and its advaages. In this meeting, Pichai ideified 4 key areas where artificial ielligence can help advance the UN’s Sustainable Developme Goals.
The CEO of Google talks about the role of artificial ielligence in the progress of humanity
The first area from the poi of view of the CEO of Google is people’s access to various sciences and knowledge in their native language. According to Pichai, Google has added 110 new languages to the Google Translate service in the past year and is working on adding 1000 languages from the most popular languages in the world.
The second area is to speed up scieific discoveries. Last May, Google iroduced the Alphafold 3 model. This model is the result of the collaboration of Google’s DeepMind unit and Isomorphic Labs and can accurately predict the structure of proteins, DNA, RNA and ligands and provide new developmes in the field of drug discovery. According to Pichai, the model is now freely available to more than 2 million researchers in more than 190 couries. 30% of these researchers are prese in developing couries.
The third area of artificial ielligence effect from Pichai’s poi of view is the reduction of weather disasters. According to Google’s CEO, the company’s Flood Hub system provides early warning of weather disasters up to seven days in advance, protecting more than 460 million people in 80 couries. Google’s border tracking systems for forest fires are also currely in place in 22 couries. Earlier this moh, Google also announced the FireSat service, which is used to detect and track wildfires.
Finally, the fourth area considered by Sundar Pichai is to coribute to economic developme. According to him, research has shown that artificial ielligence can increase labor productivity by 1.4% and be effective in increasing the global gross product by 7 pois.
