In the specialized meeting of the Virtual Space Research Institute, Iran’s national artificial ielligence docume was reviewed and criticized in the presence of officials in the field of technology and innovation. This meeting was attended by Dr. Karim Zahedi, Vice Preside of Technology, Innovation and Knowledge-Based Economy of the Science and Technology Headquarters of the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution, Dr. Mohammad Reza Maboudian, Chairman of the Artificial Ielligence Commission of the Computer Trade Union System, and Dr. Mohammad Hadi Zahedi, Chairman of the Ielligence Association. Iran’s Artificial Ielligence reviewed the approval process, challenges and future needs of this docume.
Criticism of the National Docume of Artificial Ielligence
In this meeting, which was held with the presence of experts and those ierested in technology and artificial ielligence, Dr. Karim Zahedi, as the first speaker, explained the process of approving the national docume of artificial ielligence in the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution. While explaining the differe stages of compiling this docume, he poied out the importance of coordination at the national level for the developme of artificial ielligence and Iran’s position among the top 10 couries in the world in this field.
Emphasizing the necessity of upstream documes such as the National Docume of Artificial Ielligence, Zahedi said: “Given the rapid developmes at the global level, it is necessary for our coury to develop artificial ielligence more quickly and accurately.” “This docume can act as a coordinating framework to guide differe devices towards a common goal.”
The narrative of the approval of the docume and the upcoming challenges
Zahedi further explained that the process of approving this docume has faced many challenges. He said: “From the beginning of drafting the docume to its final approval in 1403, changes in the governme and ier-institutional complications made the work process a little long. But finally, with the participation of various institutions, this docume was approved in May 1403.”
He explained about the similarities and differences of this docume with other upstream documes of the coury: “Unlike other documes that usually have a longer time frame, this docume was proposed to be for five years, but it was finally approved with a longer-term approach. Zahedi added: “One of the importa parts of the docume is the priorities set for the next three years, which will be updated in shorter periods of time.”
The role of scieific institutions and associations in the implemeation of the docume
In the following, Dr. Mohammad Reza Maboudian meioned the role of scieific institutions in the successful implemeation of the docume. He explained that scieific associations and institutions, such as the Iranian Artificial Ielligence Association, have a duty to help promote and develop the science of this field.
Maboudian said: “The drafting of regulations and standards related to artificial ielligence is one of the importa requiremes for the implemeation of this docume, and associations can act as a scieific arm alongside policy-making institutions.” He also meioned the establishme of the first scieific research journal in the field of artificial ielligence and holding the first scieific conference of this association this year.
Elite network and artificial ielligence ecosystem
In another part of this meeting, Dr. Mohammad Hadi Naseri, the head of the Iranian Artificial Ielligence Association, discussed the importance of forming an elite network in the field of artificial ielligence. He explained that one of the goals of this association is to form a network of elites inside and outside the coury so that they can coribute to the developme of Iran’s artificial ielligence ecosystem by participating in this field.
Naseri emphasized: “The presence of Iranian elites in promine iernational companies is a great opportunity for us. By forming a network of these people, we should take advaage of their knowledge and experience in the developme of the coury’s artificial ielligence.”
Challenges and opportunities ahead of the National Artificial Ielligence docume
Referring to the importance of the national artificial ielligence docume, Naseri said: “Our coury needed a comprehensive docume in the field of artificial ielligence, and reviewing this docume in the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution is a smart move. But we hope that this docume can be reviewed and amended in the shortest possible time.”
In the end, he meioned the challenges facing the implemeation of this docume and said: “Implemeation of this docume is not possible without ier-institutional coordination and we need more cooperation in this field.”
