The review and criticism panel of Iran’s national artificial ielligence docume was held with the presence of “Mohammadhadi Zahedi”, the head of Iran’s Artificial Ielligence Association and several influeial people in this field. In this panel, Naseri poied out the challenges in drafting and implemeing the docume and talked in detail about the lack of sufficie participation of scieific and academic institutions, the lack of clear strategic strategies and the role of industrial and governme institutions in the developme of artificial ielligence. Criticisms were also raised on the ieraction and cooperation of differe scieific and industrial sectors with this docume.
Challenges of cooperation between universities and industry in compiling the national docume
At the beginning of the meeting, Mohammad Hadi Zahedi, the preside of the Artificial Ielligence Association of Iran, addressed the problems in the cooperation of universities and scieific institutions with this docume and said: “One of the main reasons that serious progress has not been made in the developme of the national artificial ielligence docume is the lack of sufficie participation. It is from universities. Despite the fact that several letters are se from differe companies for the participation of researchers and professors in this project, but in the end, no result is achieved. This situation is caused by a kind of mistrust and negative meality that was formed in the past and is still standing now.
Zahedi coinued: “If there was a serious determination, we could hold regular meetings with the presence of the deans of engineering and computer science faculties and move towards compiling a comprehensive docume.” But there has been no news of holding such meetings. “Perhaps if such meetings were held with the presence of academic elites, we would have seen better ieraction in drafting the docume.”
The importance of ieraction and participation of differe institutions in the preparation of the docume
Zahdiba poied out that the national artificial ielligence docume should be compiled comprehensively and with the participation of all stakeholders, adding: “In many couries, the compilation of such documes is done with the presence of scieific, industrial and even political elites. In Iran, it is also necessary that the coury’s artificial ielligence elites, who have the most scieific works in this field, directly participate in the drafting of the docume. “Despite the holding of a meeting with the presence of the Research Deputy of the Ministry of Science, it was expected that these ieractions would be more extensive and that better scieific feedback would be applied in the process of drafting the docume.”
He also appreciated the presence of the computer trade union organization in the docume review process and stated: “Nasr organization is one of the institutions that made importa criticisms of the docume and had a represeative in most of the meetings related to the review of this docume. These coributions have been very valuable in terms of the validity and accuracy of the opinions, but there are still some importa criticisms of the docume.
Criticism of not having clear strategic strategies
In the coinuation of the panel, Zahedi poied out one of the main problems of the docume, i.e. the lack of strategic strategies, and said: “Iran’s national artificial ielligence docume suffers from a serious problem, and that is the lack of clear and effective strategic indicators.” In the strategic documes of advanced couries, we see a detailed definition of strategic choices that lead to big and painful decisions. These choices should determine which parts of society and industry will undergo fundameal changes and transformations.
He added: “Our national artificial ielligence docume should be drafted in such a way that it includes difficult and painful choices. These choices show the progress of the coury. But if there are only general and ineffective recommendations in the docume, it means that instead of making strategic decisions, we have just drafted an ineffective docume.”
Lack of atteion to audience and industrial applications
Zahedi also emphasized the necessity of knowing the audience in drafting the docume and said: “This docume must be drafted according to the needs of differe audiences.” Have we written the docume for the scieific body of the coury? For industry? Or executives? “Each of these groups needs special atteion and we need to know how to make our choices in these areas.”
He also criticized the lack of atteion to the industrial and commercial fields in Sindh and added: “One of the problems we have been facing in the last two years is the lack of specific strategies for the application of artificial ielligence in the industry. If artificial ielligence is not properly applied in the industry, we cannot see economic growth and developme in this field. We must specify in the docume which organizations and institutions are responsible in this area and which indicators should be observed in this field.”
Investigating the coribution of artificial ielligence in the economy and future plans
Zahedi we on to examine the role of artificial ielligence in Iran’s economy and compare it with the couries of the region and said: “Our studies show that the couries of the Persian Gulf and even Egypt will dedicate a significa share of their GDP to artificial ielligence by 2030. will give For example, Egypt will get about 7% of its GDP from AI that year. Saudi Arabia has planned an even larger share. In Iran, however, we have still reached small numbers in this field, and with the curre trend, we cannot expect to reach our economic goals in the field of artificial ielligence by 2040.”
He coinued: “These numbers show that we are currely facing serious problems in the formulation and implemeation of the national artificial ielligence docume.” “If this process is not corrected, we will be out of the cycle of iernational competition.”
In the end, Mohammad Hadi Zahedi emphasized the need to amend and update Iran’s national artificial ielligence docume and said: “We have taken the initial steps in compiling this docume, but in order to reach a comprehensive and effective docume, we need more cooperation from scieific and industrial institutions, developing strategies We are strategic and create more accurate feedback from stakeholders. Only in this way can we play an effective role in the field of global artificial ielligence and grow Iran’s artificial ielligence economy.”
