About 60 couries, including the United States, supported the responsible use of artificial ielligence in the military industry at the Seoul Artificial Ielligence Summit. China was the only coury that did not support this non-binding plan.
According to Reuters, the Conference on Responsible Artificial Ielligence in the Military (REAIM) is currely being held in Seoul, South Korea. This is the second conference in this field. Last year’s conference was held in The Hague, Netherlands. The purpose of holding such conferences is to determine the strategy and road map for the safe and responsible use of this technology in military industries.
Weapon manufacturers have started using artificial ielligence

Represeatives participating in this conference announced that this year’s plan is action-orieed and more advanced issues such as the use of drones equipped with artificial ielligence in the battle of Ukraine were also discussed. Ukraine itself is one of the couries that has supported the docume on the responsible use of artificial ielligence for military purposes.
Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Berkelmans told Reuters:
“We are taking more concrete steps. “Last year’s summit was more about building common understanding, but this year we are moving more towards action.”
According to Berklemans, going io action includes actions such as determining the type of risk assessme, and importa conditions such as human corol and how to adopt trust-building measures to manage risk.
One of the details of this year’s docume is the need to preve terrorist groups from using artificial ielligence to promote weapons of mass destruction and the importance of human corols, especially in nuclear weapons.
Represeatives of about 30 couries attended the Seoul conference. China was also among the couries that se its represeative to this conference, but did not support its docume, which shows the vast difference in the views of the couries.
According to Korean officials, they plan to discuss a docume on the responsible use of artificial ielligence for military purposes at the UN General Assembly in October.
