Bloomberg reports, citing informed sources, that Apple is in talks to use Google's Gemina artificial ielligence models in the iPhone. It seems that this negotiation is for Apple to use Gemini models to power some AI features in iOS 18. According to these knowledgeable sources, Apple has recely discussed with OpenAI and is considering using its artificial ielligence model.
According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is seeking a license to use Google's Gemini for AI-based features on the iPhone. In addition, the company has been in discussions with OpenAI for the possible use of GPT models.
If the negotiations between Apple and Google come to fruition, their agreeme will probably be based on the search engine agreeme of the two companies. For years, Google has been paying Apple billions of dollars annually to make Safari the default search engine.

In the field of artificial ielligence, there is a lot of pressure on Apple to close the gap with competitors such as OpenAI, Microsoft, Ahropic and even Google. Last moh, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company would iroduce generative AI features by the end of 2024.
Also, the company's hiring list last year shows that Apple has been working on several iernal AI tools. However, possible negotiations to use third-party AI technology mean that Apple's efforts to develop in-house AI have not made significa progress.
Of course, Apple may add some of its iernal artificial ielligence capabilities in the upcoming updates of the iOS 18 operating system. But it seems that the company still needs to partner with another company like Google or OpenAI in order to have a strong presence in the highly competitive AI space.
