“Bill Gates” has always been one of the ehusiasts of artificial ielligence and has thought about it even before the widespread emergence of this technology in the past years. However, the co-founder of Microsoft said in a new ierview that artificial ielligence is not magic in solving problems that humans are not good at.
Artificial ielligence has so far proven that it can be very useful in several fields, including pharmaceuticals and agriculture; Gates and his foundation also focus on these several areas. But despite all these capabilities and successes of artificial ielligence that we have seen since last year, there are also many reports about the limitations of this technology.
Bill Gates on artificial ielligence
Gates recely discussed some of these limitations in an ierview with Dax Shepherd on the Armchair Expert podcast. He says:
“If there's a problem that humans can't solve, existing techniques don't provide a new approach.”
In other words, according to Bill Gates, curre artificial ielligence models, despite their many capabilities, are not magical. They are just super fast at doing things that humans do more slowly.
He coinues:
“I think artificial ielligence can play a role in meal counseling, but we have to be very careful about it. “Its developme requires a lot of work that has not been done yet.”
Another area where Gates believes that curre AI models stumble is solving complex mathematical problems.
However, Gates says that he is always optimistic about artificial ielligence and that these limitations are not a reason to abandon the technology. Also, while he gives people and nations the right to oppose artificial ielligence in necessary circumstances, he does not foresee a future in which the people of the world agree to stop the developme of this technology.
