Based on the release of rece WhatsApp updates for Android, this popular messenger has blocked taking screenshots of other people's profile pictures to protect the privacy of its users.
According to the Android Police website, the release of new WhatsApp updates for Android users has caused them to encouer an error in this messenger when taking a screenshot of their audience's profile picture. After investigating this issue, the meioned website stated that it did not receive a warning from WhatsApp before taking a photo, but when taking a screenshot of someone else's profile picture, it encouered a black screen.
Unfortunately, there is no way to preve this limitation because it has been in developme for a long time. By adding this feature to the stable version of the WhatsApp application, a warning message may be shown to users before taking a screenshot.
Although WhatsApp has increased the security of users' privacy by making this change, you can still take a screenshot of their profile picture with smaller dimensions by going to the preview of each coact's profile.
Other investigations by Android Police show that apparely WhatsApp has not allowed users to take screenshots of profile pictures in any version of its application; So it doesn't matter what version of this messenger you are using because this restriction is applied globally and through its servers.
By not allowing users to take screenshots of profile pictures, Meta presumably aims to preve spoofing and other privacy risks. This feature has been added to WhatsApp while other multi-platform messengers such as Telegram and Signal are deprived of it.
It is worth noting that you can specify who can see your profile picture by visiting the privacy section in WhatsApp settings.
