Artificial ielligence tools can already imitate people's voices and make deepfake videos from them. Now a new research has shown that imitating people's handwriting is also possible by this powerful technology.
According to Bloomberg, researchers at the Mohammed Bin Zayed School of Artificial Ielligence (MBZUAI) in Abu Dhabi say they have developed a new technology that can mimic a person's handwriting from just a few paragraphs of handwriting.
To do this, the researchers used a transformer model (a type of neural network designed to understand coe and meaning in a sequence of data). The MBZUAI team, which iroduces itself as the world's first artificial ielligence university, has received a pate for this system from America.
The researchers have not yet published the technology, but their achieveme could be an importa step in the field. There are already apps that can generate handwriting, but with the help of rece advances in artificial ielligence, it can be done much better.
Mimicking people's handwriting by artificial ielligence can be dangerous
This technology can help those who have lost the ability to write to be able to write again. But at the same time, risks can also be considered for it. Two researchers of this project have stated in an ierview that society should be aware and have tools to deal with forgery of documes.
Despite the concerns, the researchers say they plan to impleme their research in real-world conditions in the coming mohs. They are currely looking for business partners. One of the researchers of this research says: “From deciphering doctors' handwriting to creating personalized advertisemes, the poteial of this achieveme is huge.” The system can also be used to generate data that helps AI models better understand handwriting.
This artificial ielligence is currely able to understand English and to some exte French handwriting.
