Tech gia Nvidia has signed a $4.3 billion deal with Malaysian company YTL to develop artificial ielligence infrastructure. YTL Power Iernational announced on Friday that the first phase of the project will start in mid-2024.
According to Hoshio, Nvidia and YTL are negotiating to participate in the developme of artificial ielligence infrastructure, including supercomputers and cloud computing. This project is going to be implemeed in the state of South Johor in Malaysia.
According to the terms of this agreeme, both companies will cooperate to build the fastest supercomputers using Nvidia AI and YTL Power Iernational chips and with the help of Nvidia's iellige cloud computing platform, with the aim of building a large language model. In the announceme published by YTL company, it is stated that the new project will be hosted in the data ceer park of this company. YTL's data park is located in the state of Johor and is known as a facility with 500 megawatts of power. YTL Communications was the first provider of 4G and 5G services in Malaysia and is considered one of the pioneers of technology in this coury.
Analysis suggests that this partnership could boost Southeast Asia's artificial ielligence ecosystem and Malaysia's ambitions as a semiconductor powerhouse. “Malaysia is an importa ceer for computing infrastructure in Southeast Asia that requires access to facilities and power, and YTL can play an importa role in this field,” Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang told reporters on Friday without directly confirming the deal. “
Following this news, Anwar Ibrahim, the curre prime minister of Malaysia, announced in a tweet on Platform X that the collaboration between Nvidia and YTL includes a huge investme worth 20 billion ringgit, equivale to 4.29 billion dollars. After meeting with Huang and CEO of YTL Power, Yeo Suk Hong, he said, “The decision to invest in Malaysia is a clear signal that foreign investors, especially technology gias, feel it, and this makes this coury the main destination of choice in The region has transformed.”
Zaafar Aziz, the Minister of Iernational Trade and Industry of this coury, also said: “We welcome partnerships like the collaboration between YTL and Nvidia. These collaborations are exactly of the type targeted in our new comprehensive industrial plan.”
