It seems that Samsung’s Supermold panels are being phased out, and a new generation of Samsung displays with a significa improveme will be produced soon.
Samsung is probably looking to unveil a new generation of its OLED panels in the second half of 2025. These panels, which are called PHOLED, have much lower energy consumption than the curre generation of supermolded displays. But how did the Korean gia manage to make these changes?
What is the difference between the new generation of Samsung screens?
Samsung currely uses green and red phosphoresce subpixels in the panels, while the blue diodes are made of fluoresce materials. It is said that the new generation of Samsung screens will use new blue phosphor diodes that have 100% light efficiency. This is while the light efficiency of fluoresce materials is 25%.
It was predicted that the new generation of Samsung displays will be used on the foldable phones Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. But The Elec media reports that due to the delay in the developme of this panel, Samsung cannot prepare this product for next year and it will be ready for use at least in 2025. This means that Samsung’s new OLED panels are likely to be used on the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 phones.
Apparely, Samsung had problems in the first step of developing blue phosphor diodes for its old panels. The lifespan of these panels is almost half of the panels that use blue fluoresce diodes.
The reason that the supply of these panels will be delayed for another year can be the same problem. In any case, the Korean gia has focused on the developme of these panels and will bring them to mass production in the next year or two. Of course, since these panels are the first production samples in the world, they must be sure of the market’s elasticity so that they can start their mass production.
