Washington seeks to confiscate the oil tanker seized near Venezuela – Mehr News Agency | RCO News Agency

According to Mehr news agency, citing Al-Mayadeen, the US Department of Justice announced that Washington is seeking to seize the “Motor Tanker Skipper” oil tanker, which it seized last December along with 1.8 million barrels of crude oil.

The US had previously seized the tanker near Venezuela as part of a strategy to increase pressure on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro before his hijacking.

Since the start of the invasion of Venezuela, US government officials have pressured the interim government in Caracas to allow US companies access to oil and initiate reforms.
