Gaza is on the verge of an escalation of humanitarian disaster; aid delivery is paralyzed due to the lack of facilities – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to Mehr news agency, “Mahmoud Bassal”, the spokesperson of civil defense in the Gaza Strip, considered the main cause of the crisis in the Gaza Strip to be the continuation of bombings, the killing of civilians by the Israeli occupation forces, and the prevention of the arrival of aid and shelter for the displaced.
In an interview with the Palestinian news agency “Safa”, he emphasized that since the beginning of the war, the Gaza Strip is not only under daily attacks, but also experiencing a full-scale disaster with the occupation, destruction of houses and complete disruption in the lives of the residents. The spokesperson of the Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip emphasized that the strategy of the occupiers in the arrival of aid is based on a partial “drip” and this situation has worsened the humanitarian situation.
Bassal emphasized that the suffering of the residents of the Gaza Strip is no longer limited to the continuous bombing and killing, but also includes severe environmental challenges due to the lack of shelter and infrastructure.
The catastrophic situation under the bombardment and weather conditions
Referring to the citizens’ exposure to harsh natural factors such as the instability of the winter weather and the extreme heat of the summer, in a situation where there is no proper shelter, he stated: “Children are dying, families are left without homes, and the human condition is literally sick. Anyone who thinks the war is over is delusional; Maybe its form or song has changed.”
The spokesperson of the civil defense emphasized that the relevant institutions and international organizations have been informed about what is happening in Gaza, but the answers have been limited due to the fact that the occupiers have prevented the entry of necessities.
Bassal emphasized that the occupiers rely on the “drip” strategy in the arrival of aid; So that currently the traffic through the crossings covers only about 40% of its nominal capacity and the humanitarian aid received only meets about 43% of the real needs.
Flooding of thousands of tents and the challenge of rescuing martyrsHe stated: “In Gaza, there is no tent that has not been damaged by the rain. Thousands of tents were flooded and this situation has led to the spread of skin and infectious diseases caused by living in a humid and unsanitary environment.
Clear international decision to end restrictions
The Palestinian official emphasized the need for a clear international decision to end the suffering of the residents of Gaza and said that these decisions should be accompanied by the immediate arrival of all the necessary requirements to save the entire service delivery structure.
