Fredriksen: The people of Greenland have openly said that they do not want to become Americans – Mehr News Agency | RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Al Jazeera, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said in a speech at the Munich Security Conference: Europe should take more collective measures regarding the security of the Arctic region. There will be challenges around Greenland, but now there is a guardian for the Arctic. NATO and other allies will now have a permanent presence in and around Greenland, a very important step forward.
The Prime Minister of Denmark also said about America’s greedy eye towards Greenland: Of course not. We must respect independent countries and respect the rights of people to determine their own destiny. The people of Greenland have made it clear that they do not want to become Americans. If one NATO member (US) attacks another (Denmark), it’s game over.
He then added: “We and Europe disagree with President Trump’s view on Greenland.” We have begun to develop a framework called the Arctic Century to establish a permanent military presence in Greenland. The sovereignty of countries must be respected and the people of Greenland do not want to become Americans.
“Mate Frederiksen” then repeated the issue of Europe’s Russia-phobia and claimed: If Putin wanted peace, he would not have bombed Ukraine in minus 25 degrees Celsius. Ukraine cannot win a war because there are limits to the weapons it can use. We know exactly what weapons to offer to Kiev. We must realize… that Russia will not change and they are not interested in peace. Putin will go elsewhere after Ukraine, even if we succeed in reaching a peace agreement.
