What is the plan of the Zionists in Hebron for the forced migration of Palestinians? – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, citing Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed, following the siege of the southern region of Hebron in the south of the West Bank by the Zionist occupying army, signs of a crippling economic crisis appeared in this region, and one of the most vital economic arteries of the city was almost completely paralyzed. The besieged Gaza Strip includes Hebron’s main industrial hub, including factories, companies, mines and farms, which form the region’s vital economic arm. This has directly affected production and trade, and there has been a growing demand from traders and factory owners to reopen their facilities.
In recent days, by installing two iron gates and closing the entrances connecting the industrial area to the side road, the Zionist forces have intensified their control over this area and surrounded it more than before and completely paralyzed the economic activity in it.
The consequences of the siege of the southern region of Hebron have affected the cattle farms of the region more than others, as one of the most important economic sectors.
Ebrahim al-Turk, one of the farmers in the region, told Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed that the losses to the farmers have been significant and are increasing daily, so that tens of tons of milk are lost every day due to the blockade and prevention of transfer to factories and transport trucks. He added that dozens of cows are at risk of death due to the severe lack of animal feed and the difficulty in obtaining it, as well as the effects of cold weather.
economic war; An introduction to forced migration
According to Al-Turk, these farms used to supply approximately 70 tons of milk to different regions of Hebron province daily, which stopped the sales process and resulted in financial losses of more than $63,500 per day, excluding other operating costs. Alturk notes that the losses are not limited to farm owners, but include hundreds of workers who depend on the sector as their main source of income.
Turkey warns that the continued blockade of this area will lead to damages amounting to millions of shekels in the coming days.
The threat of production chains
Abdo Idris, the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hebron Province, told Al Arabi Al-Jadeed that the disruption in the supply chain of the province’s industries threatens the entire production sector and exacerbates the economic crisis in this province. He explains that the besieged industrial area is one of the most important industrial areas in Hebron.
Idris added that dozens of large factories and companies in the southern part of Hebron have been forced to close and have suffered a lot of damage.
He said that the occupiers’ real goal in besieging the area is to “create a chaotic environment for the people and force them to leave the area and increase the pressure on the Palestinian economy.”
forced unemployment
Regarding the amount of damage caused, Idris noted that the economic damage caused is significant; However, due to military operations and continuous siege of the region, there are no accurate statistics in this field.
He added that the southern region includes industrial and operational facilities that provide employment to at least 7,000 people, in addition to this number, thousands more worked in small businesses such as grocery stores and shops, all of whom have been rendered unemployed as a result of the siege.
This Palestinian official warned that the public space that the occupiers are trying to impose will lead to economic stagnation, change in work priorities and public investment.
Idris noted that the aim of these measures is to “impoverish the Palestinians in Hebron, complicate their lives and make the city an unfavorable environment for investment.” He noted that the Chamber of Commerce is in daily contact with the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian Communications Office to put pressure on the Israeli side to allow the entry of food and to reopen shops and factories, but the Zionist regime does not interact positively with these efforts.
