Al-Maliki’s stance on running for the post of Iraqi Prime Minister – Mehr News Agency | RCO News Agency
According to Mehr news agency, quoted by CNN Arabi, Nouri al-Maliki, the former prime minister of Iraq and head of the Rule of Law coalition, who was nominated for the post of prime minister by the coordination framework coalition of this country, emphasized: I defend the sovereignty of Iraq and the national decisions of this country and they should be respected.
He added: I believe that retreating from positions in the shadow of this attack against Iraq is a danger to the country’s sovereignty. I will remain until the end to run for the post of Prime Minister. The coordination framework coalition is responsible for determining whether I stay or not.
Al-Maliki stated: If the aforementioned coalition makes a decision not to nominate me for the post of prime minister, I will welcome it with open arms. At the same time, I emphasize that if I become the prime minister of Iraq again, this country will not be subject to economic sanctions.
He said: US President Donald Trump has been misled about me by some countries and internal parties. He doesn’t know me. The chargé d’affaires of the American embassy in Iraq did not ask me to withdraw my candidacy.
It should be noted that the American president has recently announced his opposition to Maliki’s prime ministership by adopting interventionist positions!
Regarding Syria, al-Maliki emphasized that if Jolani keeps Syria free of terrorist camps and training centers and their transfer to Iraq, Baghdad wants good relations with this country.
