According to the Mehr news agency, citing the base of the extra-regional Al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper, thousands of people took part in a demonstration in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, demanding the release and return of their country’s president, Nicolas Maduro, on Tuesday.
The participants of this rally marched with the slogan “Venezuela needs Nicolas”. Some protesters also held pictures of Maduro and his wife Celia Flores, who was kidnapped with him.
A large number of attendees wore red clothes and widely raised national flags.
One of the people present at this rally told AFP: “We feel confusion, sadness and anger.”
He called Maduro’s arrest a reason for people to be in the streets and added: “After anger, despair and uncertainty, hope is still alive in the street and in the struggle, and sooner or later they will have to release our president.”
