The beginning of the registration of performing arts scholarship for BRICS Plus countries – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, citing BRICS TV, in 2026, young drama theater actors from BRICS Plus countries will come to Moscow once again to participate in the “Interrusha” scholarship program in the field of performing arts. The program is organized by the Russian Institute of Dramatic Arts (GITIS) in cooperation with the Gorchakov Fund, the international media network TV BRICS and the non-profit organization “Mzhdunarodniki”. This scholarship is part of the flagship project of the Russian Federation Agency called “New Generation”, which is implemented with the support of the Presidential Assistance Foundation.
This program is designed for final year students of theater and cinema schools and educational centers related to performing arts, as well as for young professional actors. The classes will be held in Moscow from August 24 to October 3, and the application deadline is May 31, 2026.
The Interrusha program gives the participants the opportunity to get acquainted with Russian theater art methods, take part in specialized expression and acting classes, meet with prominent cultural figures, watch performances of prominent theaters in Moscow, and exchange experiences with their counterparts from different countries. In the final session, students will present movement exercises and parts of plays.
Grigory Zaslavsky, head of the Russian Institute of Performing Arts “GITIS”, said: “We are glad that the scholarship of young artists of the BRICS countries is once again held in our collection. For Gatiss, this program is not just a training course, but a real opportunity to introduce the Russian acting school to international colleagues; How we work with actor psychology today, what new approaches we have in teaching movement and expression, and how Stanislavsky’s legacy has developed. This project has always been a conversation; From these meetings, we gain a new perspective, different energy and diverse theatrical experiences. We invite students and young actors who don’t just look at Russian theater as spectators, but want to participate in it. Together we explore, experience and find common ground – both literally and metaphorically. We look forward to receiving your requests! Let’s build the theater of the 21st century together.”
Alexandra Borman, director of the international cooperation department of BRICS TV, also said that the network implements and supports several humanitarian projects to strengthen intergovernmental cooperation. In the framework of Interrosha programs, this network is traditionally one of the organizers and the main information partner of two programs: one related to the performing arts and the other for energy professionals. The media campaigns of this network cause wide coverage of project events, strengthening of specialized communities, expansion of professional communication and exchange of experience, which ultimately helps to improve the quality of life in BRICS countries and strengthens the international position of this organization.
The cycle of Interrusha scholarships was launched in 2021 by the Gorchakov Fund. The mission of this project is to strengthen and deepen scientific, public and cultural communication and to create a basis for constructive dialogue between young specialists from Russia and other countries.
Sergei Orlov, deputy executive director of the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, said:
“In 2026, the Interrusha program will celebrate its fifth anniversary; An important milestone that shows the sustainability and growing international credibility of this project. During these years, more than 500 people from 70 countries have participated in this scholarship and had the opportunity to get to know a wide range of specialized fields. The performing arts scholarship has a special place among these programs and is considered the most creative program of Interrosha; A place that brings together the most ambitious young actors from the BRICS Plus countries.
The Interrusha Performing Arts Scholarship Program was developed during the year of Russia’s presidency over BRICS.
In 2024, there were participants from Argentina, Brazil, India, Iran, China and South Africa. After the end of the course, BRICS TV produced the documentary “Worthy of Admiration: New Roles for BRICS Plus Actors”, which was shown in several foreign countries.
In 2025, young actors from Brazil, India, China, South Africa, Argentina, Tunisia, Mauritania and Cuba participated in this program.
