It should be emphasized that the relations between Türkiye and Iran, as two countries with deep historical ties, are of key importance from the point of view of security, stability and regional prosperity.
Türkiye’s will to develop bilateral relations as much as possible through mechanisms such as the High Cooperation Council (YDİK) established in 2014 should be emphasized.
To emphasize the necessity of intensifying mutual efforts in order to achieve the goal of increasing the volume of bilateral trade to 30 billion dollars.
In this framework, the desirability of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, energy, transportation and connectivity, including border trade centers, is emphasized.
Türkiye, stating that it closely follows the recent developments in Iran, notes that the security, peace and stability of Iran are of great importance for this country.
Türkiye has once again declared its opposition to any military intervention against Iran and warns of the dangers and consequences of such an action at the regional and global levels.
Ankara declares its readiness to help resolve existing tensions through dialogue. This country supports reaching a peaceful solution as soon as possible regarding Iran’s nuclear program and emphasizes that it is ready to provide any assistance in this direction if needed.
Referring to the recent role of the Iranian branch of the PKK terrorist organization, PKK/PJAK, in the recent unrest in Iran, it is emphasized that these incidents have once again proven that the complete neutralization of PJAK is an urgent necessity for Iran’s security.
In the framework of the second phase of the Gaza peace plan, by specifying the mechanisms in which Turkey is also involved, it is emphasized that Turkey gives priority to the quick implementation of concrete measures in the field, including the continuous and uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid.
Türkiye declares its support for the reconstruction of Gaza with the aim of providing conditions for the residents of this strip to remain in their land and live in peace and security.
Against the actions that Israel takes against regional stability, it is emphasized that the countries of the region should work together, especially with the approach of solidarity and cooperation.
It is stated that the consolidation of peace and security in Syria will directly contribute to the strengthening of regional stability.
In the context of the need to preserve the territorial integrity, unity and sovereignty of Syria, the importance of the complete and perfect implementation of the ceasefire agreement and full integration (Ateşkes ve Tam Integration Anlasmaşı) is emphasized.
It is also noted that maintaining the ceasefire in Syria is of vital importance to prevent any disruption and weakness in the process of transferring ISIS prisoners.
The 8th meeting of Türkiye-Iran High Council of Strategic Cooperation (YDİK) was held on January 24, 2024 in Ankara.
Turkish President last met and talked with Iran’s President Massoud Bezikian on September 1, 2025, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made his last visit to Iran on November 30, 2025. During this trip, he met with Masoud Al-Madikian, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Chairman of the Islamic Council, Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, and Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran.
Araghchi also made his last bilateral trip to Türkiye on December 2, 2024. Araghchi also traveled to Türkiye on June 21, 2025, on the occasion of the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The total volume of trade between Turkey and Iran has reached about 5 billion US dollars by November 2025, of which 2.75 billion dollars include exports and 2.25 billion dollars include imports.
