Syrian Ministry of Interior: We took control of al-Aqtan prison
The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the control over al-Aqtan prison in Raqqa province, which was under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
According to RCO News Agency, according to the report of the official Syrian News agency (SANA), the ministry pointed out that expert teams from the counter-terrorism department took on the mission of guarding this prison and ensuring its security.
The Syrian Ministry of Interior explained that the Syrian institutions adhere to the principles of the rule of law and strictly and systematically follow up all cases related to prisons.
A little later, this ministry announced in another statement that before withdrawing from al-Aqtan prison, the SDF planted a number of bombs in this facility, which were discovered and neutralized by army forces.
The Syrian army previously took over the security responsibility of al-Aqtan prison, where a number of ISIS detainees are present.
This was done in the framework of the implementation of the January 18 agreement between the SDF and the Syrian government.
Syria’s Al-Akhbariya network also reported before the start of the process of transferring SDF forces from al-Aqtan prison in the suburbs of Raqqa after 5 days of negotiations with the Damascus government.
