Reuters: Venezuela’s oil facilities were not damaged
The English News agency wrote in a report: “According to initial assessments, despite the extensive US airstrikes in Venezuela, the country’s key oil and refining infrastructure has not been damaged and production activities are still in a normal state.”
According to RCO News Agency, Venezuela was the target of US military aggression on Saturday morning, and news sources reported that several loud explosions were heard in different parts of the country.
In the latest reports about the internal situation in Venezuela after the aggressive attacks of the United States, the English news agency “Reuters” reported the normal activity of the state oil company of Venezuela (PDVSA), citing 2 informed sources.
According to Reuters, Venezuela’s strategic oil facilities and main refineries were not targeted during Saturday’s attacks and no damage was done to them.
The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, stressed that crude oil production and refining activities across Venezuela continue unabated.
In this regard, Reuters wrote: “Although Caracas and some military areas have seen heavy bombing, PDVSA’s technical teams have announced that critical energy infrastructure has been spared from these attacks.”
While oil facilities were not damaged, reports indicate extensive damage to non-oil infrastructure. According to Reuters sources, the port of La Guaira near Caracas, which is one of the country’s largest commercial ports, suffered “severe damage” during the airstrikes. It should be noted that this port is mainly used for commercial goods and has no role in Venezuela’s oil exports or operations.
This stability in the energy sector is reported while previously US President Donald Trump had claimed the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. However, the continuation of PDVSA’s activities reflects the effort of Venezuela’s technical and operational body to maintain the country’s economic lifeline amid the military invasion.
