The first session of the sixth session of the Iraqi Parliament – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to Mehr news agency, quoting Waa news agency, the first session of the sixth session of the Iraqi parliament began today, Monday, December 29, under the chairmanship of Amer al-Fayez, the senior speaker of the parliament, in order to determine the duties of the president and two vice presidents in an atmosphere full of intense competition.
The sixth term of the Iraqi House of Representatives began its work while according to the constitution, the election of the board of directors, including the chairman and two vice-chairmen, is considered the first and most sensitive step for the formation of a new government.
This meeting will be held in two stages, the first stage is devoted to the legal oath of the representatives, and in the second stage, the voting process will begin to elect the chairman of the House of Representatives.
This is despite the fact that according to Iraqi political custom, the seat of the chairman of the House of Representatives is the share of Sunni movements.
In this connection, the National Political Council, which holds the majority of Sunni seats, announced last night “Haibat Al-Halbousi” from the Toad party led by Mohammad Al-Halbousi as its final candidate.
However, by rejecting this decision, the “Al-Azm” coalition has emphasized the candidacy of “Muthani Al-Samrai”, which shows a serious split among the Sunni movements to hold this position.
In this context, the representative of this faction in the Iraqi parliament, Raad Al-Dahlaki, said that this faction has agreed with some political factions on the nomination of Mushani al-Samrai for the position of the head of the Iraqi parliament.
First and second vice president
According to political tradition, the post of first vice-president belongs to Shiite coalitions (coordination framework). In this context, an informed source told the official Iraqi news agency: Consultations between the factions of the coordination framework to determine the final candidate for the post of the first deputy speaker of the parliament are still ongoing, and it seems that Adnan Fihan from the Sadeghoon faction, Yaser al-Maliki from the Government of Law coalition, and Mohsen Al-Mandlawi from the Al-Asas faction are the main candidates for this position.
Sadeghoon faction in the Iraqi parliament affiliated with Asaib Ahl Haq led by Qais Al-Khazali announced that most political factions have agreed to vote for Adnan Fihan for the position of the first vice president of the Iraqi parliament.
He added that some factions will also present candidates for this position.
On the other hand, the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iraq has officially announced that it has nominated Shahwan Abdullah for the second vice-president, which is the share of the Kurds.
