According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Al Jazeera, Syrian sources denied the reports regarding the new agreement between Damascus and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), despite the fact that the SDF has announced that it is trying to prevent the failure of the previous agreement with the Syrian government regarding the integration of its forces into government institutions.
“Obadeh Kojan,” the Deputy Minister of Information of Syria, said in this regard that “calls with the Syrian Democratic Forces are currently suspended and the published reports about an imminent agreement between the two sides or the presence of American pressure on the Syrian government to move forward in this direction are false.”
Kojan explained that “the position of Damascus is clear and decisive, and they have made constructive proposals, but the Syrian Democratic Forces are delaying their implementation.”
“Ahmed Mowafq Zidan”, the media advisor of the self-proclaimed president of Syria, Ahmed al-Shara, also stated: “The options are limited with the Syrian Democratic Forces, and these forces must accept the responsibility of not adhering to what they signed in the presence of Türkiye and the United States.”
On the other hand, Mazloum Abdi, the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, emphasized on Thursday that “every possible effort will be made to prevent the failure of the agreement concluded with Damascus.”
At the same time, the SDF commander called for “decentralization” again in Syria; An issue that the Syrian government opposes, arguing that it contradicts the provisions of the March 10 agreement, which emphasizes Syria’s territorial integrity.
