Pope: I hope that a direct dialogue between Russia and Ukraine will be established
The leader of the world Catholics said he hoped for a direct and honest dialogue between Russia and Ukraine to reach a peace agreement.
According to Isna“May the armed confrontation end,” Pope Leo XIV said in a Christmas message on Thursday evening.
According to the “TASS” News agency, the Pope emphasized in his message: “And may the parties involved in the war in Ukraine, with the support of the international community, find the courage to conduct an honest, direct and respectful dialogue.”
He also wished for an end to all conflicts, especially in Gaza, Syria, as well as the “forgotten conflicts” in Africa and the suffering of all the underprivileged.
The Christmas Day message is a call for peace, and it was the first American-born pope to be elected in May.
Continuing his message, Pope Leo XIV said, referring to the suffering of the people of Gaza, which has worsened due to the crimes of the Zionist regime: “Jesus took upon himself our fragility and felt compassion for each one of us; With those who have nothing left and have lost everything, like the residents of Gaza. with those who are victims of hunger and poverty.”
He added: “Like the people of Yemen and like many refugees and immigrants who cross the Mediterranean or reach the American continent. With those who have lost their jobs and those who are looking for work, like many young people who are struggling to find a job. “With those who are exploited, like many low-wage workers, and with those who are in prison and often live in inhumane conditions.”
In his prayer for “justice, peace and stability”, the leader of the world’s Catholics mentioned Lebanon, Palestine and Syria.
