Macron: Negotiations on Ukraine’s security guarantees will resume
French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Wednesday that negotiations on security guarantees for Ukraine will continue in January in Paris.
According to RCO News Agency, Macron said: “We will continue these efforts from January in Paris, with the aim of providing strong security guarantees to Ukraine; Guarantees that are a basic condition for achieving a stable and strong peace.
He further added that he had a conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte about the situation in Ukraine and ongoing activities within the framework of the “Alliance of Volunteer countries“.
Last week, German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz announced that the European Union and the United States have reached an agreement on providing security guarantees to Ukraine based on the model of Article 5 of NATO. On the other hand, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow and Washington have reached a common understanding that Ukraine should return to the status of a neutral and non-nuclear country.
