Publication of morally scandalous documents of current and former American officials – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to Mehr news agency, citing Rashatoudi, the US Department of Justice published a large collection of documents related to the ministry’s investigation of “Jeffrey Epstein”, a trafficker and sex offender, online.
These documents were released under the “Epstein Files Transparency Act”; A law requiring the Justice Department to release records related to the federal criminal investigation of Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.
The archive contains a large number of photographs of Jeffrey Epstein, his accomplice and others during trips to places such as Bali in Indonesia, Morocco and Saint-Tropez in France. Many of these images have been heavily censored to remove information that could reveal the identity of potential victims or contain child sexual abuse content, as required by law.
The Ministry of Justice has announced on the website that hosts these documents that necessary efforts have been made to review and delete personal information related to victims and other people. However, due to the large volume of documents, there is a possibility of unintentional release of some sensitive information.
It is not yet clear whether Friday’s release included all the documents available to the Ministry of Justice or only a part of them. American officials have announced that more documents may be released.
Earlier, US Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said that the release would include “several hundred thousand” documents and that more files are likely to be released in the coming weeks. The timing has drawn criticism because the law requires the Justice Department to release all documents in its possession by December 19.
The move comes after months of political pressure and public controversy surrounding the Epstein case. Epstein’s case has been in the public eye since his death in a New York prison in 2019. Lawmakers and victims’ rights groups have long called for more transparency about the handling of the investigation and Epstein’s network of communications.
