The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain has emphasized that the sanctions imposed by Washington have seriously affected the functioning of the International Criminal Court and weaken the ability of this court to carry out its legal missions.
Madrid also demanded to respect the mechanisms of international law and refrain from exerting political pressure on independent judicial institutions.
The US State Department on Thursday announced sanctions against two judges of the International Criminal Court for what it called “unlawful targeting of Israel”.
