According to the Mehr news agency, citing the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ website, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati and China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and regional developments of common importance over the phone.
Expressing his satisfaction with the level of relations between Cairo and Beijing, Abdul Ati announced Egypt’s willingness to hold the fifth strategic consultation period between the two countries at the level of foreign ministers and the joint committee to examine the strengthening of relations in various fields at the same time as the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the beginning of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
He also praised the cooperation of Egypt and China in the field of new and renewable energy and desalination of sea water and other fields and pointed to the promising investment opportunities in Egypt, especially in the framework of the national approach of industry localization and technology transfer, and efforts to strengthen China’s investments in Egypt in the fields of artificial intelligence and digitalization.
The two sides then exchanged views on developments in the region and consulted on the situation in the Gaza Strip.
Abdul Ati considered it important to guarantee the continuation of the ceasefire, to implement the requirements of the second phase of the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement, which helps to consolidate peace and prevent renewed tension.
He emphasized the importance of the unhindered entry of humanitarian aid to the required extent and support for early recovery and reconstruction measures in the Gaza Strip, which help to improve the living conditions of the Palestinians.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister further warned about the dangers of the situation in the West Bank due to the alarming escalation of settler violence and the continuation of the land confiscation policy.
In this phone call, the developments in Sudan were discussed.
In this regard, Abdul Ati emphasized the importance of achieving a humanitarian ceasefire that leads to a sustainable ceasefire and once again announced Cairo’s permanent and supportive position of Sudan’s unity, sovereignty and stability.
