Putin: Relations between Iran and Russia are expanding in a positive way
Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a meeting with Iran’s President Masoud Mezikian on the sidelines of a meeting in Turkmenistan, while pointing to the continuation of close contacts and bilateral cooperation in various fields, emphasized that the relations between the two sides are expanding in a positive way.
According to RCO News Agency, today on the sidelines of the International Peace and Trust Summit in Ashgabat, Vladimir Putin met with the President of Russia in a meeting with the President of Iran, Massoud Mezikian, while conveying his “warm greetings and best wishes” to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, he said: “The relations between the two countries are expanding in a very positive way.”
He added: “Last year, the growth of trade exchanges was 13 percent, and in 9 months of this year, it increased by 8 percent.”
“We continue to work on joint mega-projects related to the Bushehr power plant and infrastructure development, including the North-South Corridor,” Putin said.
In the meeting with his Iranian counterpart, the Russian president also noted: “We are reviewing cooperation in the field of gas transmission and electricity transmission. We also have a lot of cooperation in the field of agriculture. Our close contacts continue on key international issues, as well as issues related to Iran’s nuclear program. You are completely familiar with our position and we support Iran in the Organization of Nations. “Our foreign ministers are always in contact with each other.”
In this meeting, the doctors expressed appreciation for Moscow’s positions in international forums in defense of the policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran: “Based on the comprehensive strategic agreement we have made together, we are determined to implement what is written.”
