Zelensky: America does not want Ukraine to join NATO
While pointing to possible agreements between Russia and the United States, the President of Ukraine said that the United States does not want Ukraine to become a member of NATO.
According to RCO News Agency, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday evening: “The United States does not want Ukraine to be a member of NATO.”
“We don’t know what separate agreements the United States has with Russia, but over time, all the secrets will be revealed,” the Ukrainian president claimed, according to Reuters.
Regarding the issue of Ukrainian lands and the possibility of handing over some of them to Russia, Zelenskiy said: “Ukrainians should have the right to express their opinion through a referendum on territorial handovers.”
He added: “Territorial issues are still under discussion and the United States wants to reach an agreement on peace proposals by Christmas.”
“The peace plan currently under consideration requires Russia to withdraw from the Kharkiv and Sumi sectors,” the Ukrainian president claimed.
This claim of Volodymyr Zelenskiy was mentioned while the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Army, Valery Gerasimov, informed the Russian President Vladimir Putin about the capture of the city of Seversk in the Donbas.
Zelensky continued: “Russia wants to keep the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, but we want it to be controlled by us or the United States.”
In the end, he added: “Russia’s withdrawal from Zaporizhia and Kherson is not on the table at the moment.”
