The US House of Representatives canceled the Caesar Act sanctions against Syria – Mehr news agency RCO News Agency

According to Mehr news agency, citing Reuters news agency, the US House of Representatives approved the big defense budget bill for fiscal year 2026, which has a value of nearly 900 billion dollars. In the section related to Syria, this plan also includes the cancellation of the sanctions of the “Caesar” law.

The bill reportedly includes a wide-ranging package of provisions related to Syria, Ukraine, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Iraq, and so-called counter-narcotics programs. In the Syrian sector, the sanctions that were previously imposed under the Caesar Act against Bashar al-Assad’s government have been canceled.

In the case of Ukraine, in this plan, 400 million dollars of security assistance is provided each year in 2026 and 2027.

For the Asia-Pacific region, the full funding of security cooperation with Taiwan in the amount of one billion dollars, the creation of a joint program drone between the Pentagon and Taipei, as well as the maintenance of 28,500 US troops in South Korea.

This bill also prohibits reducing the number of US forces in Europe to less than 76,000 for a period of more than 45 days.

Among its other provisions is the cancellation of licenses for the use of military force related to the 1991 and 2002 wars in Iraq.

In this plan, one billion dollars is also allocated for alleged operations against drug trafficking, including maritime activities.

After the approval of this bill in the House of Representatives, the proposed bill must be reviewed and approved in the Senate and then sent to the President for final signature.
