Trump’s former advisor: Sanctions have only brought Russia and China closer
Trump’s former foreign policy adviser does not expect US sanctions against Russian companies to achieve much, other than bringing Russia and China closer together.
According to RCO News Agency, “George Papadopoulos”, a former foreign policy advisor to Donald Trump’s first round presidential election campaign, said: “Sanctions have only brought Russia and China closer.”
Sputnik News agency quoted this former adviser and added: “China is currently America’s main rival in the world arena, and putting pressure on Russia to strengthen relations with this country is of no benefit to America in terms of leverage.”
On October 22, the United States imposed sanctions on Russian companies Lukoil and Rosneft, marking the first time that the second Trump administration has targeted Russia with restrictions.
