Moscow: We play an active role in the Middle East
Referring to the extensive interaction of Moscow with all actors in West Asia to play an active role in the peace and stability of this region, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia also emphasized the inevitable role of Russia in decisions on the agenda of the United Nations.
According to RCO News Agency, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin announced in an interview that Russia’s position in West Asia is still strong and Moscow continues to play an active role in promoting a peaceful, stable and predictable situation in the region.
In an interview with ARTVI, Vershinin said in response to a question about this: “Of course, it is not possible that Russia, relying on its historical experience over decades and even centuries, does not participate in all efforts to make the situation in the Middle East peaceful, stable and predictable.”
“The reality is that we can talk to all the actors in the Middle East,” he added. We can communicate with them and convey our position and views, even when we disagree and this is normal. I think this ability of Russia is probably our biggest trump card.”
“We are working very actively in all these cases, even from the point of view of working in the context of all conflict situations in the Middle East,” Vershinin emphasized.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia noted that many situations in the Middle East are reviewed by the UN Security Council, and of course, no decision can be made without Russia.
“I could list all the countries that we are actively working in, both domestically and in New York,” he stated. “The Security Council has nobles in many of these situations where nothing can be decided without us.”
