American media: Moscow and Washington have come closer, Europe is alone – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to the Mehr news agency, the Wall Street Journal quoted a French official and wrote: Russia and the United States would have reached an agreement on the solution to the Ukraine crisis a long time ago if Europe had not intervened.
According to this French official, who did not want to be named, in the absence of the Europeans, Russian President Vladimir Putin and American President Donald Trump had long ago reached an agreement to end the crisis in Ukraine.
The French official told the Wall Street Journal: Now Europe is “left alone” because Washington has withdrawn from the region and the green continent has to rely more on its own power.
According to the report of this American media, Trump’s peace plan for Ukraine has aggravated the differences between the member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty (NATO).
The international news agency Reuters also declared the US peace plan for Ukraine an “ugly deal” for Europe, regardless of Brussels’ concerns.
This western media wrote: European officials are worried that the final agreement on Ukraine will not only punish or weaken Russia, but also endanger the security of the green continent more than ever.
Reuters added: America may even start extensive economic cooperation with Russia as Europe’s traditional partner in the North Atlantic Treaty (NATO).
This English-language media quoted Luke van Midlaar, director of the Brussels Geopolitics think tank, as saying: “It seems that the fact that an ugly agreement will be reached is slowly being accepted.” Trump wants an agreement based on the logic of great powers. According to this logic, America and Russia are two big powers and they should agree on issues.
Reuters wrote: Europe is now “not paying the price for the development of military capabilities in recent years” and still does not have the necessary cards to be effectively at the negotiating table.
