The General Administration of Shipping of Türkiye announced in a statement that a fire occurred in the oil tanker “Kairos” on the way to the Russian port of Novorossiysk.
According to Isna, this empty oil tanker, which was sailing under the flag of Gambia, sent an emergency message about a fire caused by a foreign agent 28 nautical miles away from the coast of Turkey.
The statement said: “The condition of the 25 crew on board is good.”
According to the announcement of this department, rescue units have been sent to the area to evacuate the crew.
Bloomberg News agency wrote in this regard that this tanker was under the sanctions of the European Union and the United Kingdom.
This media further announced that it is possible that this ship hit a mine.
Another oil tanker named “Virat” was targeted 35 miles off the coast of Türkiye and “thick smoke was observed in the engine room”.
