Telegraph: America is ready to recognize Russia’s control over Crimea and occupied areas of Ukraine
US President Donald Trump’s administration is preparing a proposal that includes recognizing Russia’s control over Crimea and the occupied territories of Ukraine.
According to RCO News Agency, this US proposal is part of the peace agreement that is being drafted by Trump’s son-in-law Steve Wittkoff and Jared Kushner. These two are preparing for direct negotiations with Putin in Moscow.
In this regard, “Telegraph” wrote that this plan violates American diplomatic traditions, but it is likely to be implemented despite the concerns of Kiev’s European allies.
Wittkauf’s initial 28-point peace plan included the formal recognition of Russian control over Crimea and possibly over the occupied regions of Donetsk and Luhansk and fronts in Kherson and Zaporizhia.
However, after negotiations in Geneva with the participation of the Ukrainian and European parties, the plan was changed from 28 articles to 19 articles. At the same time, according to the media, key proposals about the “recognition” of these lands are still part of the talks.
