Maduro: No threat or aggression can scare our people
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced on Thursday that no foreign “threat or aggression” can frighten the Venezuelan people.
According to RCO News Agency, “Our people have calmly prepared to defend their homeland, land, seas, sky, spirit and history,” Maduro said in a speech.
The US president is sending conflicting signals about the possibility of attacking Venezuela. He has authorized covert CIA operations in Venezuela and confirmed that he does not rule out military intervention, but has said he will speak with the Venezuelan president.
The US government accuses Maduro of leading a drug-trafficking operation, a charge the Venezuelan president denies, insisting the US is practicing war against his country. Since last September, at least 83 people have been killed in 21 US attacks on ships in the Caribbean and the eastern Pacific, under the pretext of their involvement in drug trafficking.
