Criticism of the Iranian legislator on the structural discrimination of the West against Iran
The representative of the Islamic Council said: The prohibition of some Western countries from presiding Kurdish and Sunni Iranian candidates on the Assembly of Minorities is based on the systematic, structural and institutional discrimination of the West against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to Isna, during the 18th meeting of the United Nations Minorities Assembly in Geneva, “Sara Fallahi”, the representative of Ilam in the Islamic Council, criticized the dual approach of the West in dealing with the issue of human rights.
Falahi, the head of the Human Rights Committee of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Islamic Council, said that some Western countries’ prohibition of Kurdish and Sunni Iranian candidates for the presidency of the Minorities Assembly is a type of discrimination based on nationality and resulting from an institutional, structural and systematic pattern of widespread discrimination against the Iranian people.
During his speech at this meeting, he stated: Iran is the birthplace of human rights in the world, and Cyrus the Great’s charter of human rights and respect for religions and cultures is an example of this claim.
Referring to the negative and biased portrayals of the situation of minorities in Iran, the representative of Ilam in the Islamic Council invited the representatives of other governments, non-governmental organizations and university professors present at the meeting to refer to the realities of Iranian society in order to get a true picture of the peaceful and constructive coexistence of the Iranian people.
While referring to the recent opposition of a small number of Western countries to the presidency of an Iranian Sunni and Kurdish-speaking candidate for the UN Minority Assembly, Falahi stated that this opposition was very unprofessional and biased in the continuation of the dual and discriminatory behavior of these countries. In such a way that despite the firm support of all the members of the Asia-Pacific group of the Human Rights Council, this candidate was excluded due to widespread systematic discrimination against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
