According to RCO News Agency, ABC reported, quoting sources in American government agencies, that the suspect of the attack on Washington in 2024 applied for asylum.
According to the same sources, the suspect was granted asylum in April 2025 during the administration of US President Donald Trump.
In this regard, the US Immigration and Citizenship Department announced that it has stopped processing all immigration applications related to Afghan citizens until further notice. The center emphasized that further review of security protocols and review of these requests is currently underway.
