Syria hostage to US deals; The dream that Trump had for Jolani – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, citing Al-Mayadeen, since the announcement of the date of the visit of Abu Mohammad Jolani, the head of the self-proclaimed government of Syria, to Washington until his departure from the White House after meeting with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, the talks about this incident continue inside Syria.
Jolani; From the wanted terrorist to Trump’s guest in the White House
A man whose arrest was offered by the US just a few months ago, entered the White House as an official guest. This happened after the Trump administration tried hard to remove Jolani’s name from the list of international terrorism; A rare occurrence in US history.
The people of Syria and indeed the whole world have come to understand that Trump has turned everything in politics, economy and war into transactions from which he seeks profit. But what deal does Trump intend to make with the new Syrian leaders and can they really make the lucrative deal that Trump wants?
Recently, Asad al-Shibani, the foreign minister of the self-proclaimed government of Syria, on his way from Brazil to the United States, published a video on Instagram that shows Abu Mohammad Jolani in a basketball court with “Brad Cooper”, the commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) and “Kevin Lambert”, the commander of the international coalition known as anti-ISIS.
The release of this film is in line with the usual propaganda of the Jolani regime before any important international event or visit, and is a well-known propaganda tactic in the policy of the self-proclaimed Syrian government.
Some believe that the actions of the Jolani regime are actually playing with the future of Syria and its people, and everything that Jolani does is in the context of a mad attempt to please foreign powers at the cost of losing Syria’s sovereignty and independence.
This group of Syrians believe that the security situation should be on the government’s priority list, but today the Syrian society, which is tired of continuous wars, is under the severe burden of inflation, and is struggling in the midst of a severe economic and livelihood crisis, lacks any security, and in addition to the repressive actions of the self-proclaimed government, is constantly violated by the Zionist regime from all sides.
The lucrative deals that Trump pursues in Syria
On Monday morning last week, Jolani entered the White House in Washington DC with numerous cases and expected to receive many concessions from America, but Syrians believe that the self-proclaimed Syrian government cannot get concessions from America without paying a heavy price.
The evidence shows that Trump considers Jolani a reliable partner for America in many important regional issues, especially the normalization agreement with the Zionist regime, and therefore wants to give him more freedom of action. Trump mentioned this position after meeting with Saudi, Qatari and Turkish officials, but many members of the US Congress and Senate, as well as some American institutions, strongly oppose this Trump policy.
For example, here, Brian Mast, the Republican chairman of the US Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, who is considered to be a staunch supporter of the Zionist regime, strongly opposed the complete lifting of sanctions against Syria.
Since the US government has reached a major budget impasse, the Trump administration cannot completely lift the sanctions, and Trump’s efforts so far have resulted in the announcement of a 180-day suspension of some provisions of the Caesar Act against Syria.
A new decision made by the US government allows the transfer of US goods and technology to Syria for civilian use, with the condition that most of these goods must receive a special permit. The US Treasury Department has also emphasized that there will be no more comprehensive sanctions against Syria.
At least at this point, Trump has used all of his executive powers to achieve this goal of lifting most of the sanctions on Syria, after several US lawmakers objected to the Treasury Department, arguing that the department is an executive agency that can only overturn executive decisions, not legislative ones.
Therefore, Trump asked executive departments to ease restrictions on certain commercial goods in Syrian transactions. However, the US Department of Commerce specified that Syria must stop all trade with Russia.
Trump’s big ransom from Jolani for the Zionists
But the most important cases for the Trump administration in Syria are the cases that are specifically related to the Zionist regime; That is, the situation in southern Syria and also the country’s entry into normalization agreements.
In this regard, information shows that the United States, through its envoy Tom Barak and regional mediators, especially Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar, informed the self-proclaimed Syrian government that it should be ready to sign the American security plan for southern Syria and guarantee Tel Aviv’s interests there.
This plan is included in a document prepared for signing during the scheduled meeting between Jolani and Netanyahu. The meeting was supposed to be held last month in New York on the sidelines of the Security Council meetings, but Netanyahu refused and demanded amendments to the American document.
The changes in the American document, which Netanyahu demanded, specify that the “buffer zone” in southern Syria be divided into four concentric circles and that Tel Aviv will extend its security control to Damascus airport, Sahnaya and Jarmana areas, the western suburbs of Daraa and all of Quneitra.
Based on this, a corridor will also be opened from the border town of Hadar in the suburbs of Quneitra to the village of Thaale in the suburbs of Sweida, passing through the Da’al area in the suburbs of Daraa on the Jordanian border.
According to available information, the self-proclaimed government of Syria has requested that the United States be the guarantor of any agreement that is concluded in this regard. This means the creation of a military base south of Damascus by Washington, which is responsible for monitoring the agreement and ensuring that the Zionist regime does not attack Damascus or deep into Syria. This is exactly where the difference of opinion between America and the Zionist regime arises regarding the management and implementation of the aforementioned agreement with Syria.
Syrian observers warn that any security agreement between the Golan regime and the Zionists could lead to more tension in the internal atmosphere of Syria; So that different sectarian groups, especially those with extreme ideologies, may feel threatened and rebel against Jolani.
Based on this, we will undoubtedly soon witness a major internal crisis in Syria that the Julani regime will have to deal with. A crisis that could have serious consequences for Syria’s security and, in addition, endanger Golan’s plans to stabilize his government.
