Russian expert: America is not ready to agree with Iran
The member of the scientific council of experts of the Russian Security Council, referring to the unilateral withdrawal of the first administration of US President “Donald Trump” from the 2015 nuclear agreement, considered it difficult to revive this agreement under his presidency and said that there is no sign of the Trump administration’s readiness for this issue.
According to Isna, Andrey Suchentsov, head of the Faculty of International Relations of the Moscow State University of International Relations and a member of the Scientific Council of Experts of the Russian Security Council, said that it is difficult to believe the possibility of revitalizing the 2015 nuclear agreement under the administration of US President Donald Trump. While America withdrew from this agreement in 2018 by his order.
In its first round in May 2018, the Trump administration withdrew from the nuclear agreement reached between Iran and the 5+1 group as incomplete, and while restoring the sanctions that had been canceled under this agreement, it imposed numerous sanctions against Iran in line with a policy known as the “maximum pressure campaign” until its last days.
With the mediation of Oman in the second administration of Trump, Iran and the United States started negotiations on reaching a nuclear agreement and lifting sanctions, which, despite some progress, was stopped by the Zionist regime’s encroachment on Iran’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity on June 23. Trump admitted to knowing and fully supporting this aggression at that time and said that he was responsible for these attacks, which Iran considered “betrayal of diplomacy”.
Sushnetsov said in an interview with TASS News agency: “The negotiations on the initial agreement took a long time and required complex diplomatic decisions. “There is no indication that the current US administration is ready to revive this agreement.”
This Russian expert further stated: “Trump withdrew from the JCPOA in the first term of his presidency, which Russian diplomacy had done a lot of effort to do. Despite the fact that the American president sometimes mentions the possibility of normalizing relations with Iran, no practical steps have been taken in this direction.
According to this expert on American issues, “if Iran shows weakness, the competitors will immediately take advantage of it.”
“Thus, Tehran is actively strengthening its armed forces and missile defense system, providing conditions to prevent any possible new aggression,” Sushnetsov claimed.
Saying that “this tense situation is worrying not only for Iran, but also for America’s Arab allies”, he concluded: “The existence of American military bases, as the example of Qatar showed, was not a guarantee against (Israeli aggression). This shows the limitation of Washington’s influence in the region.”
The United States directly participated in the war imposed by the Zionist regime on July 1 and targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fardo, Natanz and Isfahan with mortar bombs.
Iran responded to the aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime during separate operations “Basharat Fatah” and “Vadah Sadiq 3”. This conflict ended on the 3rd of July.
After the imposed war, Iranian officials emphasized that they have never turned away from diplomacy and dialogue, but any negotiation about Iran’s nuclear program requires guarantees that these attacks will not be repeated.
At the same time, the American president, speaking extravagantly about Iran’s right to enjoy peaceful nuclear energy, said that when Iran tries to rebuild its nuclear program, it will repeat aggressive attacks against Iran and target these facilities again.
By maintaining these belligerent statements, Trump claims that Iran is willing to talk.
