Tehran’s readiness to investigate the mediation of Russia and China in restoring Iran’s relations with the Agency
The head of Iran’s Strategic Relations Council announced in an interview that Tehran is ready to examine the mediation plan of China and Russia to revive Iran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
According to Isna, “Kamal Kharazi”, the head of Iran’s Strategic Relations Council, stated in an interview that Iran has expressed its readiness to investigate the mediation of Russia and China in order to revive Iran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Ryanavosti News agency reported that in an exclusive interview with this media, in response to whether Iran sees Russia and China as possible mediators to reach a new form of cooperation between Tehran and the Agency, Kharazi said: Yes. If such a plan is proposed, we will consider it.
Earlier, “Mikhail Ulyanov”, the Russian representative in Vienna, said that Russia, China and Iran had a tripartite dialogue on the issue of Iran’s nuclear program on November 5. Then, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi had two phone calls with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov about Tehran’s interaction with the International Atomic Energy Agency and Iran’s nuclear program.
After the aggressive attacks by the United States and the Zionist regime on its nuclear facilities in Fardo, Natanz and Isfahan, which were covered by Iran’s comprehensive safeguards agreement with the IAEA, Iran suspended cooperation with the IAEA by announcing that “Rafael Grossi”, the director general of the IAEA, failed to fulfill his legal duties in protecting these facilities and that his biased report became the basis for these aggressive attacks in June, according to a resolution in the Islamic Council of Iran.
Tehran then reached an agreement in Cairo with the IAEA on new ways of cooperating with this body, which included giving the IAEA access to some of Iran’s nuclear facilities, except for the bombed facilities, to carry out monitoring activities.
Araghchi said on October 11 that Iran has suspended the implementation of the Cairo agreement with the IAEA. This action was carried out after the return of international sanctions against Iran with the activation of the “trigger mechanism” by the European troika (Germany, France and England).
However, Tehran at that time emphasized its readiness to consider proposals for a new agreement with the IAEA. However, the Supreme National Security Council of Iran is responsible for deciding on the form of interaction with the agency.
