The White House has considered the military option against Venezuela
According to the American newspaper, “Donald Trump” and his government officials have been considering military attack options against Venezuela in the past few days, and American forces stationed in the Caribbean region have been prepared to receive orders for possible attacks.
According to RCO News Agency, the Washington Post newspaper reported that informed people announced that Secretary of War Pete Hegst and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States Army returned to the White House on Friday to hold the second day of consultations and negotiations on the options for military intervention in Venezuela, while at the same time the American forces stationed in the waters around this country in the Caribbean region are ready to receive orders for possible attacks.
The sources, who did not disclose their names, said that it is unclear whether US President Donald Trump has decided to attack Venezuela, but his administration has held high-level talks in the past few days to examine possible attacks against Venezuela and how to implement them. According to the mentioned sources, other high-ranking American officials participating in these consultations and negotiations included “JD Vance”, the Vice President of the United States, “Marco Rubio”, the Secretary of State of the United States, and “Stephen Miller”, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the White House.
The White House and the Pentagon have not yet responded to this report.
According to the American newspaper, a government official said: “A set of options have been presented to the American president. He is very good at maintaining strategic ambiguity. What he does very well is not to dictate to our enemies his next step.”
According to the Washington Post, any US attack on Venezuelan soil would be contrary to his repeated promises in the past to avoid new wars, as well as his claims to Congress in recent weeks that there is no active preparation for such an attack. At the same time, starting such a war will complicate US cooperation with other Latin American countries and intensify speculation that Trump is seeking to use force to topple Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
In August, U.S. officials increased their reward from $25 million to $50 million for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Maduro for his alleged ties to drug cartels and fraud in Venezuela’s 2024 presidential election.
According to this American newspaper, although the US military is superior to the Venezuelan army on paper, but by expanding its activities significantly, it has put American soldiers at significant risk.
A well-informed source said the fighter pilots stationed on the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, which has been deployed to the Caribbean, has been monitoring Venezuela’s air defenses, although it is not yet known whether they will be ordered to attack. Venezuela’s Ministry of Defense has announced the massive mobilization of nearly 200,000 air, land and sea personnel to prepare for the defense of the country.
According to two informed people, the possibility of the participation of Delta special forces is also considered in these plans of the United States against Venezuela. This US special operations force is trained for a series of capture and kill missions and has been used many times to carry out such missions in the US wars over the past 2 decades in West Asia.
