American interventions in Iraqi elections; Conspiracy against “Hashd Shaabi” is on the agenda – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
TheAccording to Mehr news agency, citing Al-Mayadeen news site, on the eve of Iraq’s parliamentary elections, the increasing movements of America in the political field of this country have spread. While the United States has recently imposed new sanctions against a number of Iraqi individuals and institutions, a report was published by the European Institute of Middle East Studies in which it discussed the possibility of the United States not recognizing the results of the Iraqi parliamentary elections and Washington’s lack of cooperation with the government that emerged from the elections.
Increasing US interference in Iraqi elections
America wants the results of the Iraqi elections to be determined in such a way that it does not lead to the strengthening of Hashd al-Shaabi forces. Last September, Washington included the Najaba Movement, the Seyed al-Shahada Brigades, the Ansarullah Al-Awfia Movement, and the Imam Ali Brigades in its list of terrorist groups.
A few months ago, American pressure led to the postponement of the draft amendment to the Hashd al-Shaabi law in the parliament, which aimed to integrate the Hashd al-Shaabi forces into the official military system of the government and into the military command hierarchy. In this regard, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, informed about American messages to political leaders in which the approval of the said law was opposed.
Details of Hashd Shaabi law
Article 18 of the draft law defines the duty of Hashd Shaabi to “protect the system” and “defend the country, protect its unity and territorial integrity, and fight terrorism.” According to the draft law, the head of Hashd Shaabi will be at the rank of minister and will be a member of the ministerial committee of national security, and he can delegate some of his powers to the chief of staff or the secretary general of the board, and he must exercise the powers of the minister of defense to apply military laws to the staff of the board.
Saeed al-Badri, an analyst of Iraqi political issues, referring to the American interference and pressure in the Iraqi election process and the non-approval of the Hashd al-Shaabi law, says that any talk about the US not recognizing the results of the parliamentary elections and not cooperating with any government that may include the Hashd al-Shaabi is “biased” and in the context of interfering in Iraq’s internal affairs. is
He considered the contents contained in the report of this European institution to represent the policy of the West, which allows itself to intervene in Iraq.
Al-Badari added that experience has shown that Hashd al-Shaabi adheres to the choice of the Iraqi people and preserves the sovereignty of Iraq against any interference, so these talks are a prelude to influence and pressure public opinion to abandon Hashd al-Shaabi.
Washington and pushing Baghdad towards the normalization of relations with the Zionist regime
Referring to the idea of the US not recognizing the election, he said that this is only a hypothesis, but it can cause disruption in the election process and pressure to appoint representatives who support American policies.
Al-Badari emphasized the need for the unity of the Iraqi people in order not to give in to these demands and said that not opposing this plan will lead Iraq to complete dependence on the will of the United States, and in the shadow of this dependence, Baghdad should take steps towards normalizing relations with the Zionist regime. Definitely, Iraq’s national decision is not to step in this direction.
Pointing out that “the elections will show the will of the Iraqi citizens”, he emphasized that America will definitely increase its pressure to empower its supporters to include them in the political body of Iraq.
An excuse to extend the military presence in Iraq
According to al-Badri, based on the available information, Washington is not looking to leave Iraq and wants to turn it into its base of influence in the region. Therefore, it will try to find excuses to extend its presence in other formats in Iraq. Meanwhile, Iraq is able to protect its security and has overcome many challenges of the past on its own.
He believes that the Iraqi national forces should demand the complete withdrawal of America, especially that the Iraqi constitution emphasizes the absence of foreign forces and the disallowance of using Iraqi soil as the source of any aggression.
The impact of American pressure on the internal balance of elections
Regarding whether American pressure will affect the internal balance between political parties, al-Badri answers that the political process in Iraq is based on 3 elements of participation, agreement and balance. Therefore, any disturbance in this balance is a coup against the right of the majority and the empowerment of foreign plans to infiltrate inside Iraq is considered
He was referring to the upcoming elections He said: Iraqi elections are internal elections and we are conducting a democratic process, so that the ballot boxes will outline the future political arena and lead to an agreement on the future prime minister.
Al-Badari added that the results of the elections – whatever they are – will not stop the American pressure, and the United States will try to push Iraq towards its plans and try to stage a coup and bypass the will of the people of this country.
