Khatibzadeh: The revival of nuclear negotiations depends on the behavior of America
Iran’s deputy foreign minister stated that “missiles are for maintaining the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and are not the subject of negotiations”, saying that the continuation or resumption of nuclear negotiations depends on the behavior and intentions of the United States.
According to RCO News Agency, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Center for Political and International Studies Saeed Khatibzadeh, during his trip to Japan and in a conversation with the country’s media, explained the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the stalled process of nuclear negotiations with the United States.
Khatibzadeh said about the nuclear negotiations with the United States, which have been stopped at the moment: “If the United States has the will to reach an agreement from an equal position, its realization is possible.” He emphasized that the resumption of negotiations depends on the approach and behavior of the American side.
Iran’s deputy foreign minister explained in an interview with NHK that in September of this year, the American side made several requests regarding Iran’s missile program and added: “Missiles are for maintaining the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and are not a subject of negotiation.”
He then emphasized: “If the United States enters from an equal position with a real will to reach an agreement, speaks respectfully and gives up the illusions it has in its mind, everything will be possible.”
Iran’s senior diplomat stated once again that the continuation or resumption of negotiations depends on the behavior and intentions of America.
Regarding the International Atomic Energy Agency’s inspection of damaged nuclear facilities, Khatibzadeh also said: “Access to these facilities is very limited, and methods for cooperation and joint activities must be found.”
