UN: Talking about a safe area in southern Gaza – Mehr News Agency | Iranian and world news
On Friday, the UN Children’s Fund emphasized that there is no safe place to take refuge in the Palestinians that the Zionist regime has ordered to evacuate the city of Gaza, and the areas designated in the south are nothing but “death”, according to Mehr News Agency.
UNICEF said that newborn mothers and newborn in Gaza are facing difficult conditions and with widespread shortage of medical equipment and congestion in the Nasser Complex in the south of the Gaza Strip, with patients exiting northern Gaza.
UNICEF spokesman James Elder told reporters in Geneva through a video link from Gaza: “The situation of newborn mothers and babies in Gaza has never been worse than now.” In the Nasser Complex, we see the hospital’s corridors full of women who have just been delivered.
James Elder said of what the Zionist regime calls the safe areas in the Gaza Strip, saying that the idea of a safe area in the south is ridiculous, because the bombs are predictable from the sky and scare people and target schools as temporary shelters and destroy them.
Earlier, the Palestinian refugee relief and employment agency had also stated that tens of thousands of Palestinians were forced to displace repeatedly at high costs and that food and water access was still limited. The agency demanded an urgent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for humanitarian aid.
The Zionist regime has committed genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, which has led to the testimony of 66225 and wounded 168938. Most victims are children and women. During this period, the famine has also killed 455 Palestinians, including 151 children.
