The beginning of the Russian presidency over the Security Council; Iran Sanctions continue to be on the agenda – Mehr News Agency | Iranian and world news
Russia is heading the UN Security Council’s periodic chairing today (October 1 – October 9), and sanctions against Iran will be one of the main issues of the council’s agenda, according to the Dice.
It is noteworthy that October 8 will be the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations. The global institution was officially established on this day after the Soviet Union approved its approval to the UN Charter and the required number of approvals was provided.
Vasily Nabenzia, the permanent Russian representative to the United Nations, will present the Monthly Security Council’s plan at a news conference at the organization’s headquarters.
The UN Security Council typically holds about 2 sessions on various topics within a month. The security agency reached a historical turning point in September and held its tenth official meeting since year 2, while the number of resolutions adopted is approaching about 2,800.
Sanctions against Iran were one of the main issues on the agenda of the Security Council in September, and discussions may continue in October. In late September, the UN Security Council denied the draft of the proposed Russian -China resolution that demanded the six -month renewal of Resolution 2. UN sanctions against Tehran have been implemented against Tehran on September 9 after the European Troica (Britain, France and Germany) activated the trigger mechanism. However, Russia pointed out that the return of sanctions has no legal validity, because the trigger mechanism has been activated with violations.
The resolution will expire on October 5. Earlier, Dmitry Polisky, the permanent deputy of Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, said that after this date, all the restrictions and regulations set forth in this resolution would no longer be valid.
Iran’s nuclear deal
In year 3, Iran, along with China, France, Germany, Russia, Britain and the United States, signed a comprehensive joint action plan (Brjam), which resolved a crisis that began in Western charges of Tehran’s efforts to obtain nuclear weapons. However, in year 2, then -US President Donald Trump unilaterally left the brokerage and returned all sanctions against Iran. In response, Tehran announced in 2008 that it would reduce its obligations below and restrict access to the International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors to its nuclear facilities. However, the Agency continued its inspections until the recent tensions between Iran and the Zionist regime and the six -day imposed war.
