The South Korean military said that Seoul Tir forces fired after a North Korean -owned merchant ship crossing two Korean maritime border in disputed waters in the Yellow Sea, according to Mehr News Agency.
The South Korean Army Joint Staff, pointing out that the incident occurred today on the West Bank of the Korean Peninsula, added that the merchant retreated after a warning.
According to the South Korean Army Joint Staff, today’s incident was also accompanied by the transfer of verbal and operational alerts in line with standard protocols.
Al -Jazeera wrote that the Pyongyang wedding ship crossed the marine border near the South Korean Banginong Island at around 9am local time (6:30 pm) and remained south of the maritime border for an hour and went to the south of the South Korean Army.
The so-called “northern border line”, which was drawn after the Korean War (1-5), has witnessed deadly marine clashes in the past. North Korea does not recognize this line as a border.
North Korean leader Kim Jong -un in January called the sea border “illegal” and warned that even the slightest violation of North Korea’s territory would be considered “war provocation”.
He later said that the border is a “ghost” that is not based on any basis in the context of international law or legal justification.
The Joint Staff of the South Korean Army also announced that the military is still in full alert.
